Guelph Police find and arrest suspect in a hatchet attack case

It took almost two months to find him, but Guelph Police have arrested a suspect for a hatchet and machete attack.

Police found and arrested a 44-year-old Guelph man Wednesday night. The charges are two counts of assault with a weapon, possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose and uttering death threats.

Police say it began back in the early morning hours of July 30, with a report coming in from a cab driver on Silvercreek Parkway, calling on behalf of a victim asking for help.

Officials say the victim was at an encampment when he got into a fight with a man he knew, who threw a hatchet at the victim.

He ran off to a nearby plaza, but police say the suspect caught up with him, and this time, threatened him with a hatchet and a machete, and made death threats.

In the end, no one was injured.
