14-year-old charged after injuring woman with ‘unidentified projectile’ in Elmira

Regional police have arrested and charged a 14-year-old from Woolwich Township for injuring a woman with an “unidentified projectile.”

According to police the youth turned himself into police.

The incident originally happened was just before 7 p.m. on Tuesday when police received a call, bringing officers to the area of Bristow Creek Drive and Raising Mill Gate area.

It’s alleged a 43-year-old woman from Woolwich Township was walking her dog in that area when she was struck by what may have been a pellet or BB.

Bystanders stepped in to provide first aid, though the victim was later transported to local hospital with minor physical injuries.

The youth has been charged with assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Officials are asking anyone with information to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
