Attempted murder charge laid after stabbing in Waterloo

Waterloo Regional Police have now laid a charge of attempted murder stemming from a weekend stabbing in Waterloo.

Saturday night around 10:40 p.m. police received reports of a male allegedly attempting to stab another male. Police say the two were known to each other.

It happened in the area of University Avenue East and Weber Street North. The victim was a 37-year-old male and he was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

As a result, a 32-year-old Kitchener male was initially charged with aggravated assault, uttering death threats and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. He was later charged with attempted murder.
