Police called to Waterloo airport after passenger refused to show I.D.

It was quite the scene at the Region of Waterloo International Airport in Breslau Thursday afternoon.

Waterloo Regional Police (WRP) say a man reportedly refused to show his I.D. before getting on his flight, and made his way past flight staff to his seat.

The man had already been screened through airport security.

Multiple police cruisers arrived at the airport around 1 p.m. and the entire plane had to be deboarded.

After a 40-minute discussion with the man, police arrested him for failing to leave under the Trespass to Property Act.

A 24-year-old man has since been issued a Provincial Offence Notice.

Under Transport Canada Regulations, if a passenger does not show their identification, they cannot board the plane.
