Police investigate ‘major collision’ in Kitchener, victim sent to hospital

A crash at a busy Kitchener intersection on Tuesday night is described by Waterloo Regional Police as a “major collision.”

It happened soon around 8:30 p.m. at King Street East and Fairway Road North, involving a pedestrian and a vehicle

Police have since indicated that the pedestrian was taken to an out-of-region hospital with serious injuries. The cause of the collision is still under investigation: It’s unclear if any charges are expected.

Northbound lanes of King Street East were closed for roughly two hours on Tuesday for the initial investigation, and have since reopened.
