Kitchener-Waterloo Art Gallery improving online presence with $106K in grants

The Kitchener-Waterloo Art Gallery (KWAG) is celebrating over $106,000 in federal and provincial grants.
Which is a big funding boost for the local arts scene.
The gallery noted that the cash has helped in making major improvements to their online programming and website.
Still feeling the effects of past COVID restrictions, the KWAG said it had to look for new ways to engage visitors, pivoting to digital programming, and then hybrid options with both on-site, off-site, and online options.
The provincial Resilient Communities Fund is giving $54,400 and $52,227 is from the federal Community Services Recovery Fund.
Shirley Madill, executive director of KWAG said, “We can serve people in the region who have expressed reliance on digital media as an integral part of their cultural lives particularly those who cannot physically visit the Gallery. By meeting a need for more accessible cultural experiences online, we can ensure that our community continues to access the art experience online.”
KWAG is the oldest, largest collecting public art gallery in Waterloo Region.
