Wellesley kidnapping and assault suspect found in Niagara Region
A manhunt for an assault and kidnapping suspect in Wellesley is over.
Waterloo Regional Police say 50-year-old David Sherk has been found. He was wanted in a case that saw a woman reportedly attacked and assaulted by a man with a knife at her home in the Hessen Strasse and Greenwood Road area Tuesday morning.
The original call was for reports of a robbery, with police adding the suspect also tried to force the woman into a vehicle.

She got away, and he drove away.
The search was then on for the 50-year-old from Paris, who was still at large the next day. The incident also prompted police to issue a hold and secure in the community for five hours Tuesday, while multiple police forces were looking for the man.
Wednesday evening, police said Sherk was found in the Niagara Region by a member of the public who recognized him from the suspect photo police had put out.
He has been charged with attempting kidnapping and assault with a weapon.
Police say prior to the alleged attack, the man and woman were not known to each other.
