Residents in Waterloo Region are calling on Grand River Transit (GRT) to change its routes to include service directly to a religious site.
A petition was started at Change.org by Swami Hari Priya, a preacher at Brahmarishi Mission of Canada, who calls on the GRT to introduce a new bus route.
The new path would extend from Conestoga Mall to the Ram Dham Hindu Temple at 525 Bridge St. East in Kitchener.
The petition claims that many who attend the temple lack reliable and convenient transportation during prayer hours.
“We do not merely request this change for convenience purpose; it stands as a key symbol of our commitment to supporting diversity within our city’s public infrastructure and transport system,” reads the petition.
