Teen cyclist airlifted with serious injuries after crash in Kitchener

A 16-year-old cyclist was airlifted with serious injuries after a crash in Kitchener.

The collision occurred late Wednesday afternoon in the Bingemans Centre Drive and Shirley Drive area, and involved a vehicle and a teenaged cyclist.

An Orgne Air Ambulance was called in to transport the young girl on the bike to an out-of-region hospital. Her injuries are described as serious.

The 22-year-old woman behind the wheel of the Mazda involved in the crash, was not injured.

Police continue to investigate the crash. Road closures were in place at the intersection for several hours for that investigation.
