Two Brampton men charged for pointing a loaded gun, trafficking drugs in Guelph

Two Brampton men are facing charges after pointing a handgun in Guelph on Saturday.

According to police, they received reports of several men involved in a fight on Macdonnell Street at around 12:45 a.m. One of the suspects was allegedly pointing a handgun at the other men involved in the incident.

When officers arrived, they found the two men walking in the area of the incident. They were detained, searched, and found to be in possession of a loaded gun and fentanyl valued at more than $6,000.

A 23-year-old Brampton man was charged with multiple weapons-related offences, and for possessing a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.

An 18-year-old Brampton man was charged with possessing a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.

“With the rapid growth of our city, our members are encountering an ever-increasing volume of complex and dangerous situations,” said Guelph Police Chief Gord Cobey in a press release. “We are committed to ensuring the safety of our residents, and our members, and will continue to work and invest proactively, recognizing that we are not immune from the crime trends being experienced in the much larger urban centres that surround our city.”
