Cambridge man arrested in connection to a string of armed robberies

Waterloo Regional Police have made an arrest in connection to a string of robberies in Cambridge.

According to Waterloo Regional Police, the first robbery took place on May 27 at a bank in the area of Dundas Street North and Main Street A man entered the bank, brandished a firearm, and stole cash before fleeing in the area.

The second robbery took place more than two weeks later on July 16 at a retail store on King Street East. The same man entered the store, took out a firearm once again, and stole cash and merchandise. In the incident, an employee was injured.

The third incident took place on July 26 at a bank on Jamieson Parkway. The same man entered the bank with a gun and attempted to steal cash. This time, he was unsuccessful, and fled the area in a getaway vehicle that was waiting for him outside.

On July 27, officers searched a residence on Lindon Drive and seized evidence in relation to the three robberies.

A 43-year-old Cambridge man was arrested and charged with robbery, assault, and weapon-related offences.

He was held for a bail hearing.
