Blind dog, needing eye and dental surgery, finds forever home

A new home has been found for a blind dog needing both eye and dental surgery.

The Humane Society of Kitchener Waterloo and Stratford Perth has shared an update on Honey.

The pup was found covered in mud and wandering aimlessly at the end of May. She was brought into the Stratford location.

At the time, she was suffering from glaucoma and needed surgery to remove both her eyes.

The humane society said Honey also required dental surgery because her teeth were damaged by chewing at the bars of a cage.

Stacy Murphy, a registered veterinary technician with the humane society, and Honey’s foster mom, spoke with 570 NewsRadio.

“She was quite thin, she had been severely matted and covered in mud … And at that time we noticed she had some eye abnormalities…She is a little trooper that is for sure.”

And now she has a home.

The Humane Society described the outpouring of love for the dog in a social media post, saying one community member donated a halo to protect her from bumping into things, a local groomer donated her services to Honey, and one of the humane society’s volunteers made a donation toward her adoption fee.

“There was no slowing her down, she was happy-go-lucky, ate well the whole time, playful, loving, she was a wonderful foster.”

Honey also now has some doggy siblings to keep her company, with her new moms Erin and Karen.
