Assault charges laid after robbery at Kitchener store

One male suspect now faces a list of charges after robbing a store at knifepoint in Kitchener.

It was around 5:30 p.m. on Saturday when regional police were called to a reported disturbance involving a knife in the area of Highland Road West and Patricia Avenue.

The subsequent police investigation revealed that a male suspect entered a store in the area, pulled a knife and attempted to steal merchandise.

There were no injuries reported as a result of the confrontation.

As a result of that investigation, police arrested a 41-year-old man who has since been charged with:

  • Robbery with a weapon
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Assault with intent to resist arrest
