Police continue investigation after speed camera vandalism in Wilmot Township

Waterloo Regional Police are investigating after a speed camera near Sir Adam Beck Public School in Baden was knocked down at the base of its post in familiar fashion.

Police said that an unknown suspect attended the area of Snyder’s Road West and made the speed measuring device inoperable through damages on July 20 between the hours of 10 p.m. and midnight.

Dating back to Sept. 2023, the same camera has been targeted in three separate occasions, having its sensor covered in spray paint and being cut down.

Normally, the speed limit on the road is 60km/h, however, between 7 a.m. to 5p.m. from September to June the limit is reduced to 40km/h in the school zone.

The investigation is ongoing, and police ask that anyone with information calls them at 519-570-9777 ext. 6370. Information can also be provided anonymously by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, or online at www.waterloocrimestoppers.com.
