Kitchener’s Wayback Festival kicks off two-day event

Fans of classic rock will be eager to be in Downtown Kitchener this weekend to Carl Zehr Square as the city’s Wayback Festival returns with a special headliner.

The two-day event will run from Friday to Saturday, featuring Canadian music icon Tom Cochrane as the headliner on Saturday night starting at 10 p.m. Other performances include Kitchener’s Hyness, Toronto’s U.N. Jefferson, and Burlington’s new wave band Spoons.

Friday night will be a “Tribute to Classic Rock” and will feature two bands, Jukebox Heroes and Keep The Faith covering rock hits from Foreigner and Bon Jovi.

The concerts are free to attend for the public, but there are VIP tickets on sale for Saturday that can get you exclusive benefits including a VIP bar, viewing area and private washrooms.

You can find those tickets here.

Street closures are in place during the weekend until Saturday night in the area of Carl Zehr Square, including parts of College Street, King Street West and Young Street.

The festival begins tonight beginning at 7 p.m.
