Youth charged in Canada Day Victoria Park firearm investigation

An arrest has been made in connection with a Canada Day firearm investigation, stemming from an alleged robbery at Kitchener’s Victoria Park.

Regional police say they’ve charged one youth with robbery, and another suspect is still on the loose and still unidentified.

They are urging anyone with video or cellphone footage of the reported Canada Day assault to come forward.

On July 1, chaos erupted in Victoria Park, with fireworks reportedly shot at families, children and officers.

Police also responded to reports of an armed robbery around 9:30 p.m.

A person was reportedly assaulted by a group of unknown suspects, with one person holding a gun.

The suspects ran away with stolen property. Fortunately, no one was physically hurt.

One youth was charged Wednesday.

The investigation is ongoing.
