Two suspects sought, laptops stolen in UW break-in

Waterloo Regional Police are looking to identify two suspects caught on camera during a break-and-enter at the University of Waterloo.

It was on June 17 when police say two men broke into an office at the University of Waterloo.

Those men stole several laptops that have since been remotely disabled by the university.

Pictures of two men police would like to identify in relation to the incident have since been released on social media – anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact the service’s Break, Enter and Vehicle Theft Team (BEVT) at 519-570-9777 extension 8255.

Anonymous tips can also be submitted through Crime Stoppers.

In addition, police have also issued some tips to the public regarding online purchases:

  • Inspect items before purchase, consider requesting proof of ownership
  • Contact police if you locate property being sold that you believe to be stolen
  • Consider using the Buy and Sell Exchange Zones located in the parking lots of WRPS facilities when finalizing online transactions.
