Annual Farwell4Hire campaign raises over $130K for Cystic Fibrosis research

The 11th annual Farwell4Hire campaign has come to a close with another large total being donated to Cystic Fibrosis Canada.

CityNews 570 Talk Show Host Mike Farwell announced on social media Thursday night that $132,000 has been raised this year.

“We simply could not have done it this year without our friends at TLC Pet Food in New Hamburg,” he said. “Hands down, no question, a $40,000-matching sponsorship,”

With the support of the community who purchased 50/50 tickets, a grand prize of almost $51,000 also contributed to the six-figure fundraising total.

“You came up with just even a little bit more than that in donations to our campaign this year and then we had a 50/50 draw worth almost $51,000,” he said. “You put all of that together and even in the year that was the strangest year of all of our 11 years doing this, it was not your normal campaign. But, you, as you normally do, came through in a huge way and helped us raise $132,000 for Cystic Fibrosis research.”

Farwell has now raised $ 1.35 million in the annual campaign since it started in 2014.
