Car fire snarls traffic on Highway 8 in Kitchener, no injuries

A crash and car fire on Highway 8 through Kitchener led to a closure and heavy traffic delays during the afternoon commute on Tuesday.
The Ministry of Transportation reported that westbound and eastbound lanes on Highway 8 were temporarily closed at Fairway Road because of a collision.
OPP later confirmed to CityNews 570 that the crash occurred shortly after 3:30 p.m. and involved two vehicles.
One of the vehicles caught fire but there were no reported injuries.
Both eastbound and westbound lanes were briefly closed as officials responded to the scene and the fire was extinguished.
All lanes reopened around 4:30 p.m.
