Severe thunderstorm watch ended for Waterloo Region

A severe thunderstorm watch has ended for Waterloo Region.

Environment Canada initially issued the thunderstorm watch just before noon Saturday with the potential for high winds and heavy rainfall throughout the afternoon and evening.

Conditions for that watch never materialized but the weather authority also warned about wind gusts that could have reached 100 km/h with the potential for torrential rain and the risk of a tornado.

The weather forecast for Sunday includes a cloudy sky, 40 per cent chance of drizzle or rain in the morning and early in the afternoon. High 17.
