Arrests made after attempted robbery at Fairview Park Mall

Waterloo Regional Police Service have arrested two 18-year-old men and a 24-year-old man from Toronto after an attempted robbery at Fairview Park Mall in Kitchener Monday night.

Police responded to the mall at around 8:15 p.m., after receiving a report of three suspicious males inside the mall.

According to police, they entered the mall carrying duffel bags, proceeded to two stores and after finding out they were closed, they left the mall.

As they were exiting the mall, police arrived on scene and found two men and arrested them. The third man fled and after a brief foot pursuit, he was arrested a short distance away from the mall.

Police seized sledgehammers from the duffel bags that were carried by the three individuals arrested.

They were all charged with two counts of attempted robbery, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and disguise with intent.

There were no physical injuries reported. The accused were held for a bail hearing.
