Over a 100 charges laid in two-day Commercial Motor Vehicle Blitz: WRPS

Five police services, 210 vehicles, and 142 charges laid, after a two-day safety blitz in Waterloo Region.
Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS) teamed up with Guelph, Brantford, Halton, and Ontario Provincial Police services for the Commercial Motor Vehicle Blitz last Wednesday and Thursday.
The Ministry of Transportation and Ministry of Finance were also involved.
Officers were set up around Waterloo Region, including along Highway 401 around Kitchener and Cambridge.
Nearly 80 vehicles had to be taken off the road.
Charges laid included:
- Insecure load
- Defective brakes
- Unsafe vehicles
- No CVOR
- Fail to complete daily inspection report
- Overweight load
- Insecure dangerous goods
- Drive major defect
- Improper driver’s licence
