ION service resumes after crash in Kitchener involving young cyclist

A crash in Kitchener between a vehicle and a cyclist caused a brief ION service disruption Monday morning.

The crash happened in the area of Victoria Street North and King Street West by Central Station around 9:40 a.m.

Police said the crash involved a motor vehicle and a cyclist. The youth riding the bike was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Grand River Transit (GRT) reported that ION trains were not running temporarily between the Grand River Hospital and Kitchener Market stations.

Replacement shuttle buses were dispatched to the area during the disruption, which lasted just over an hour.

Police continue to investigate the collision.
