WRPS officer charged with assault, suspended with pay

A local police officer is facing a pair of assault charges.

Toronto Police have charged a four-year member of the Waterloo Regional Police Service in connection with an off-duty incident.

The arrest was made, and charges laid on Monday, June 17.

The officer has since been suspended with pay as per the requirements of the Community Safety and Policing Act of Ontario.

Their name has not been released.

The officer will appear in Toronto court next week.
