Collision between minivan, tractor leaves driver trapped

A driver went to hospital after a collision between a minivan and a tractor closed down part of Erbs Road just west of St. Agatha.

Waterloo Regional Police say it happened around 3:00, Tuesday afternoon, forcing the closure of Erbs between Notre Dame Drive and Sandhills Road.

Police say the 53-year-old man from Perth County driving the minivan was the only one hurt, suffering non-life threatening injuries.

He was trapped in his vehicle and had to be extricated by firefighters.

Police tell CityNews 570 an Ornge air ambulance attended the scene, but in the end the driver was taken to a local hospital by Region of Waterloo paramedics.

The tractor driver was not hurt.

Police did not announce the road was back open until after 7:30 p.m.

The investigation is ongoing and there’s no word yet if charges might be laid.
