Waterloo Regional Police lay hundreds of charges during Road Safety Week

Waterloo Regional Police held their Road Safety Week campaign between May 14 and 20, focused on making the roads safer and the importance of obeying road safety rules.

As a result of the campaign, police laid over 450 charges to those breaking the law.

Over the seven days, police handed out 107 speeding charges, two seatbelt-related charges, 13 distracted driving charges, five dangerous driving charges, and 13 driving while impaired charges.

They also laid over 300 other charges, including failure to stop for a school bus.

Staff Sergeant Scott Griffiths of the WRPS Traffic Services Unit emphasized the importance of wearing a seatbelt to avoid putting yourself and others at risk.
