Westbound 401 reopens through Ingersoll following fatal collision

All westbound lanes of Highway 401 have reopened just west of Ingersoll — following an early morning fatal collision.

It was just after 2 a.m. on Friday when members of West Region OPP responded to that crash between Culloden Road and Putnam Road.

Police said the collision involved two vehicles, claiming the life of one of the involved drivers. A 24-year-old from London was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the second vehicle was transported to hospital as a precaution.

A lengthy closure was put in place, impacting westbound lanes of traffic as provincial police conducted their investigation.

Motorists were warned to expect that portion of westbound lanes of traffic to remain for several hours; all lanes have reopened as of 8:30 a.m.

Anyone with information regarding this collision is asked to contact Middlesex OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
