Guelph police conclude investigation on Woodlawn, package deemed not suspicious

Businesses were evacuated and several road closures were in place in Guelph Tuesday morning after police were called to the area to investigate a suspicious package.

The investigation centred around the Canada Post Distribution Centre on Woodlawn Road West near Silvercreek Parkway.

In an update at around 11:30 a.m., police said the investigation determined the package was not suspicious.

Employees at Canada Post reached out to police around 8:15 a.m., 30 minutes later the roads were closed and businesses in the area were evacuated.

The Waterloo Regional Police Explosives Disposal Unit arrived on scene shortly after 10 a.m., to help determine what the package was.

Businesses have been evacuated and several road closures are in place in the Royal City on Tuesday morning.

This comes as Guelph Police investigate a suspicious package at the Canada Post Distribution Centre on Woodlawn Road West near Silvercreek Parkway.

Employees reached out to police around 8:15 a.m., 30 minutes later the roads were closed and businesses in the area evacuated.

The Waterloo Regional Police Explosives Disposal Unit arrived on scene shortly after 10 a.m. to help determine what the package is.

Guelph Police confirmed to CityNews 570 that no one has been hurt.
