Monday is Earth Day, and local efforts are being made to combat climate change.
The University of Waterloo announced Monday a new diploma will be offered for graduate students with a focus on climate solutions.
In a release, the school said the diploma will help graduates “engage with the complexities of the climate crisis” and become future leaders by presenting potential solutions from a local to global scale.
The diploma will be followed up with other offerings including a new climate change course for any undergraduate student, a bachelor of science in climate and environmental change and a professional diploma in climate risk management.
The school said this new interdisciplinary diploma is consistent with the institution’s “Waterloo at 100” strategy and will help develop talent for a complex future, bringing new ideas to potential climate solutions.
