New beer released ahead of NHL playoffs commemorates St. Jacob’s-born Leafs legend

While the Toronto Maple Leafs are preparing for their first-round playoff matchup with the Boston Bruins, a new lager will be made available to Leafs fans locally.

The beer is called ‘Sittler 10 Point Light’, named in honour of Darryl Sittler’s historic 10 point game for the Leafs – still a single-game record in the NHL.

Sittler, born in St. Jacobs, achieved the feat while playing in a game with the Maple Leafs in 1976.

The lager will be made available at Beertown in Uptown Waterloo, Moose Winooski’s in Kitchener as well as 22 Beer Store locations.

Jody Palubiski is the CEO of Charcoal Group and explains the partnership.

“We’re certainly jumping on it right now as a big promotion, we’re keeping our options open as to whether or not it becomes a full-time listing at our restaurants.,” said Palubiski.

The brew is made by beer manufacturer Something in the Water. They were also named Canada’s New Brewery of the Year in 2022.
