Pair of Guelph roads reopen following investigation relating to an explosive device

Ontario St. and Manitoba St. have reopened following the execution of a search warrant by Guelph Police.

Police restricted access to Ontario St. from Arthur St. to Short St. and Manitoba St. from Ontario St. to Wood St. while investigating between 10:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on Monday.

On April 14, police were called to Guelph General Hospital after a man was being treated for injuries to his hand.

Police determined that the 27-year-old from Guelph had injured himself when a small explosive device — which he made — detonated while he was holding it.

Police found the device near the Eramosa River at the end of Waterworks Pl.

Nobody else was injured in the incident.

A spokesperson for Guelph Police has confirmed that the road closures were due to the execution of a search warrant related to this incident.
