Regional police investigating fatal shooting in Kitchener

One person has died following a shooting in Kitchener.

Waterloo Regional Police responded to that call around 11:55 p.m. on Thursday, as they were notified of an “injured male” in the Homer Watson Boulevard and Block Line Road area.

When officers arrived on scene, they found a 32-year-old Kitchener man with injuries consistent with a gunshot wound.

That man was reportedly transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

On Friday morning, cruisers and police tape could still be found in the area of Treeline Place.

Police have indicated they believe the shooting to be targeted in nature, and say there’s no concern for public safety at this time.

This marks the third homicide in Waterloo Region this year, and the second local fatal shooting of 2024.

You can expect an increased police presence in the Homer Watson Boulevard and Block Line Road area as the service’s Major Crimes Unit, General Investigations Unit and Forensic Identification Unit continue their investigation.
