Police find nine stolen cars, five people charged

Five people are facing a combined 50 charges after a fraud investigation.

Cars were stolen by people from the region who used stolen identity documents to get rental cars and did not return them.

As the investigation continued, police found the suspects had also stolen cars from used-car dealerships. They used stolen identities when test-driving the cars and never returned.

Nine cars were found by investigators.

The five people arrested include a 28-year-old woman from Waterloo and a 43-year-old man from Waterloo.

The 50 offences include identity fraud, possession of stolen property, and motor vehicle theft.

Police are continuing to investigate and more charges are anticipated.
