Man taken to hospital with serious injuries after stabbing

A Guelph man was arrested after stabbing another man twice on Thursday.

The stabbing happened around 11 p.m. on Gordon Street near Nottingham Street. Police found the victim and saw the suspect. After a short pursuit, the man was arrested with a knife in his pocket.

Investigators determined that the two men knew each other and that they were involved in a verbal fight earlier in the day.

The victim was taken to a Hamilton trauma centre due to injuries to his chest and abdomen. He suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect, a 28-year-old, is facing several charges including aggravated assault, assault with a weapon and possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
