Police have arrested a man and a woman from Cambridge in connection with a human trafficking investigation.
In March of 2023, Waterloo Regional Police began investigating reports that a business, operating as a spa, in the area of Industrial Rd. and McGovern Dr. was offering ‘sexual services’.
Police found that the business owners were profiting off of women they had hired to offer sexual services to customers.
On April 11, police searched the business and a residence in Cambridge, seizing a luxury SUV, the unit the business was operating out of, and their corporate bank account.
A 45-year-old Cambridge woman and a 58-year-old Cambridge man were arrested and charged with several offences relating to trafficking.
Investigators believe there may be more victims. Waterloo Regional Police urges anyone who feels they have been the victim of sexual exploitation or crimes of sexual violence while working at this business to contact WRPS’ Human Trafficking Team at intel.ht@wrps.on.ca or the Canadian Human Trafficking Hotline at 1-833-900-1010 or www.canadianhumantraffickinghotline.ca.
