Local humane society raising funds to help cat with emergency surgery

The Humane Society of Kitchener Waterloo & Stratford Perth (HSKWSP) has launched an urgent campaign to raise funds for a one-year-old cat who needs emergency surgery to have one of her limbs amputated.

Blossom arrived at the centre in poor condition as a stray. After a physical examination, including bloodwork and X-rays by the vet team, it revealed that Blossom had an old injury that was left untreated for too long.

Blossom’s emergency surgery is taking place Tuesday to have her front left leg amputated. The humane society said her medical care and costs could reach up to $4,000 or more by the time she is ready for adoption. This includes the cost of surgery to have the limb removed, spay surgery, antibiotics and cost of care.

“The money raised from this campaign will help Blossom lead a healthy, happy life,” stated Victoria Baby, chief executive officer, the HSKWSP. “We have had several emergency cases like this within the past two weeks and rely on our community’s generosity to provide this life-saving medical care. We truly hope you’ll donate today.”

After the surgery is completed, Blossom is expected to head into foster care to recover until she is ready to find her forever home.
