Driver hurt after crash on University Avenue involving WRPS vehicle

A driver was hurt after a crash on University Avenue involving a Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS) vehicle.

The crash happened Thursday around 12:30 p.m. at University Avenue and Hazel Street, and led to a closure between King Street North and Albert Street.

A police spokesperson confirmed a WRPS vehicle was involved in the collision.

The driver of the other vehicle, a Waterloo male, was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.

University Avenue reopened in the area around 3 p.m.
