Senior support services to increase in Waterloo

By CityNews Kitchener Staff

Over the next two years, more at home support services for seniors living in Waterloo will be implemented.

The funding comes from a grant the city received from the federal government, which has allowed the city to start it’s new project.

The project will help improve access to services for anyone considered to be a low-income, newcomer or vulnerable senior.

Some of the new volunteer-based support services include developing outdoor maintenance programs, expanding transportation and identifing naturally occuring retirement communities in Waterloo. Those naturally occuring retirement communities could be use to develop programs to support seniors in those communities.

The project aims to empower seniors to live at home comfortably by providing vital support services.
