Man charged for being impaired, asleep in stolen car in Kitchener

Regional Police found more than they were expecting when they got a call about a man sleeping behind the wheel of a car in Kitchener.

That call, about a man unconscious in the driver’s seat, came in just before 7 a.m. Monday morning, from Victoria Street North and Margeret Avenue.

Police said even before officers got to the scene, they discovered the Toyota Prius was reported stolen on Sunday.

The man was reportedly still sleeping in the car when officers arrived, and they took action to make sure the car could not be put into motion.

After the man was taken from the car and arrested, police allegedly found what they suspect was fentanyl and cocaine.

The 34-year old from Cambridge is now facing ten charges, including two counts of trafficking; operation while impaired; theft related charges; and failing to comply with a release order.
