If you’re still looking for something to do for Valentine’s Day Wednesday, the Uptown Waterloo BIA has some suggestions on ways you can spend it.
The Heart of Uptown is ready for selfies and photos. The large heart shaped structure is located at the corner of King St. and William St. in Waterloo.
“People can come right up and take selfies and of course that doesn’t cost anything at all,” said Jane Barkley, marketing and communications manager for the Uptown Waterloo BIA.
Another free option includes Skate Night Date Night that is hosted every Wednesday at the ice rink in Waterloo Public Square from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. throughout the month of February. Barkley said there will be a DJ on site and a food truck. Bring your own skates with you if you plan on attending.
“We have over 70 restaurants, bars and cafes for people to spend some quality time in, eat incredible food and buy great drinks,” said Barkley.
S and V restaurant in Uptown Waterloo is hosting a Valentine’s Day menu until Feb. 17 this month. Barkley said most restaurants post specials through social media.
There will be plenty of treats and goodies in Uptown to grab on Feb. 14. Some companies hosting Valentine’s Day promotions include Dana Shortt, Sweet and Savoury Pie Company, Old Firehall Confectionary and The Bakery.
Sweet and Savoury Pie Company will be letting people come in and create their own unique treat Box containing six items, but is only available on Valentine’s Day.
Barkley said some unique last minute date ideas include: a workout for two at SPINCO in Waterloo, enjoying July Nail Bar’s Valentine’s Day special which includes a pedicure, local charcuterie box and drinks or heading over to Charmed Flowers for their signature flower wrap that is inspired by vintage newspapers.
Anyone looking to book something for later in the month while still focusing on the romantic holiday can check out the self-love party at Waxonomy on Feb. 28.
“We are running a Galantine’s day contest right now through our Instagram and people are telling us what they really love about Uptown Waterloo and its just an absolute flood of comments of what a great, vibrant place this is to be – so yeah perfect place to spend Valentine’s Day,” said Barkley.
More Valentine’s Day ideas or promotions can be found on the Uptown Waterloo BIA website.
