Equipment issue causes power outage in Kitchener

By CityNews Kitchener Staff

An equipment issue led to a power outage in the Cherry Hill area of Kitchener on Friday.

The outage was reported just before 12 p.m. and initially impacted more than 2,500 customers in the Glasgow Street, Westmount Road, Belmont Avenue, and Victoria Street South area.

The size of the outage was quickly reduced and limited to just over 1,100 customers.

Power was restored to the remaining affected customers just after 1:30 p.m.

Enova Power listed the cause of the outage as equipment failure and confirmed on social media it was due to a broken insulator.
