Discovery of human remains leads to murder charge in Guelph

Guelph police have laid a murder charge after human remains were discovered in a green space in the royal city last week.

The remains were found in a greenspace area just off of Carrington Pl. on Feb. 1.

On Feb. 9, police confirmed the remains were identified and belong to a Guelph man who had been reported missing in early December.

62-year-old Mike Galizzi was last seen in downtown Guelph on the morning of Dec. 6 and he was reported missing two days later.

Through an investigation, police have arrested a 27-year-old Guelph man. He has been charged with second-degree murder and committing an indignity to a human body.

Guelph police said the accused and the victim were known to eacher.
