Crash involving ION train in Kitchener

Emergency services responded to a crash involving a vehicle and an ION train in Kitchener on Thursday afternoon.

Police confirmed the collision happened around 4 p.m. on King Street, near Grand River Hospital.

Further details on the crash were not immediately available, including whether anyone was hurt.

The crash halted LRT service between the Waterloo Public Square and Kitchener Market stations, although ION replacement shuttle buses were made available for transit riders during the disruption.

Grand River Transit said ION service was fully restored around 5:30 p.m.
