Cars stolen from Waterloo found in Milton, Georgetown; Oakville man charged

A national summit on fighting auto theft is just a week away, and now Regional Police say they have laid charges in connection with a stolen vehicle investigation, with ties to the GTA.

Last year, police say several vehicles were stolen from the Weber Street North and Columbia Street East area, four of them have been found, and an Oakville man charged.

Police tracked the cars down to shipping containers in Milton and Georgetown in November.

They included a 2023 Dodge Durango, 2023 Ford Mustang, a 2021 Jeep Gladiator, and a 2020 Audi RS3, valued at $250,000.

It was just last week, the federal government announced the need for a national summit on auto theft in the country, saying they are seeing increasing cases of gangs stealing cars and working with organized-crime groups to send them to the Middle East and Africa, or use them within Canada to commit crimes before destroying them.

The summit is scheduled for February 8.
