One man dies in Kitchener house fire

A 37-year-old Kitchener man has died after a house fire in the city.

Emergency crews responded to a home in the area of River Road East and Holborn Drive on Saturday around 4:30 a.m.

The Kitchener Fire Department was able to put out the blaze, but while doing so, they found a man with serious injuries.

He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The cause of the fire is unknown, and the Office of the Fire Marshal has been called in to assist Waterloo Regional Police with the investigation.
