Winter is coming, so is GRT’s winter service schedule

If you rely on public transit, there’s some service changes ‘en route’ with the arrival of winter.

Grand River Transit (GRT) will launch its winter holiday service on Christmas Day.

There will be some schedule alterations and reductions because of the holidays, especially on Dec. 25, Dec. 26, and Jan. 1.

On New Year’s Eve though, there will be extended service on many routes to help you celebrate the end of 2023 safely.

The holiday service continues until Jan. 7 and the next day, GRT’s winter service begins on Jan. 8.

The transit agency said the winter service changes will include adjustments to address seasonal customer demand, increase connections at Conestoga College, and shorten travel times.

A reminder as well, GRT has a new severe weather plan for the winter, which will see some stop closures and detours in the event of significant snowfall or freezing rain.
