Nith Valley Apiaries in New Hamburg closed after fire, not suspicious

A morning fire at Nith Valley Apiaries in New Hamburg Wednesday brought closures to a stretch of roadway in the north end of New Hamburg.

The Wilmot Fire Department said the incident occurred around 6:30 a.m. Wednesday morning. Emergency crews were alerted of the incident from a 911 call by a passerby.

Regional police reporting at one point Christner Road was closed at Waterloo Street for the investigation.

Traffic was heavily delayed on Waterloo Street between Nafziger Road and Hostetler Road for fire crews to tackle the blaze.

A social media post by Nith Valley Apiaries said their workshop was impacted and they will not be open Wednesday.

They add no one was hurt and the honeyhouse, retail store, and bulk honey storage was not impacted.

Estimated damage remains undetermined and the cause is being investigated but, it is not deemed suspicious.
