Highway 401 in Cambridge to finish construction by the end of the year

The lane expansion project of the 401 in Cambridge is on track to be completed by the end of the year.

The Cambridge Highway 401 expansion website said the remaining construction this month includes some electrical work, the paving and gravel work on the shoulders and the replacement of any remaining overhead signs.

This week, drivers can expect some delays on the westbound and eastbound with intermittent lane reductions during the night. Delays are expected to last about five minutes during the drive.

The construction project first began at the end of 2020. The goal of the project was to expand the number of lanes from six to 10. The Hespeler Road Bridges, Townline Road Underpass and Wellington County Road 32 Underpass have also been replaced.
