Nothing says Christmas like singing some classic holiday tunes in one of Ontario’s oldest bridges.
The annual Covered Bridge Carol Sing will be on Monday December 18 at the West Montrose Bridge. The event will include song books, warm drinks and treats for those who attend.
Tony Dowling of the West Montrose Residents Association (WMRA), said the annual holiday event began in 1988. It was first organized by the Kiwanis Club and has been organized by the WMRA, also called “The Bridgekeepers,” since 2008.
“This year, for the first time ever, we are partnering with the Kiwanis Club again,” said Dowling. “So we’ll have more singers, we’re expecting a bigger crowd. It’s going to be a great event.”
Also known as the “kissing bridge,” it was built in 1881 and is one of the oldest bridges in Ontario. Major repairs are expected on the bridge in 2025.
Songs will begin at 7 p.m. Attendees are asked to come to the north end of the bridge.
