By CityNews Kitchener Staff

If you plan on joining the masses for some holiday shopping this weekend, pick up a little something extra for a child in need in your community.

Waterloo Regional Police will have Auxiliary Officers set up at Walmart locations across Waterloo Region, continuing their Stuff-a-Cruiser Campaign, collecting new, unwrapped toys.

Donations can be made from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the following locations:

Walmart – 22 Pinebush Road, Cambridge
Walmart – Sunrise Shopping Center, 1400 Ottawa St S, Kitchener
Walmart – The Boardwalk, 100 The Boardwalk, Kitchener
Walmart – St. Jacobs, 335 Farmers Market Road, Waterloo

Police Chief Mark Crowell says the annual campaign has already collected numerous toys for children in need this year alone.

“This is our well celebrated occasion with the Knights of Columbus, collecting new toys for new individuals, it’s a really heart-warming engagement and we are so thrilled to do it again.”

Now into it’s fourteenth year, the stuff-a-cruiser campaign has brought it more than $98,000 and 77,000 toys for the community.

“It’s so heartening to see the community show their support for those in need, and every year we have a record number of toys collected that are distributed across the Region.”

Toys can also be donated anytime at any police division until December 21.
